Level 2 ( Middle School & High School)

•  Units of study can be used as  a supplement or as your regular textbook. The units are similar to material used by the author when teaching Earth Science to eighth grade students. Each unit contains 16 lessons that can be taught in six weeks. Teachers should plan to use three of the units each semester.
• Teacher's manual is a copy of the student textbooks with all the answers included in the manual. Correlation to the National Science Standards are included in the back of each teacher's manual.
• Student Textbook contains 16 lessons, quizzes and hands-on activities. The lessons in Level 2 are expanded versions of the materials presented in Level 1. Class sets of the textbooks are available. Please call toll free (888) 785-5439 for a quote.
• CDs  are digitalized student textbooks on PDF files. The CDs can be used as student textbooks for students who have been absent and need to make up their work. Site licenses are available for each of the units. Please call toll free 888-785-5439 for further information.
• DVDs contain video lessons taught by the author. Students who have been absent can make up their work by watching the DVD and then completing the information in their student textbook.  

Rock Cycle

The Rock Cycle Unit is designed to be an overview of the rock cycle. The unit includes 16 lessons on the formation of igneous rocks, sedimentary rocks and metamorphic rocks. Students learn how to identify rocks based on the individual characteristics that make each group of rocks unique.

Volcano

The volcano unit of study covers different types of volcanoes and eruptions. The formation of calderas, pyroclastic flows, lahars, plate tectonics, submarine volcanoes and the Hawaiian Islands. Hands-on activities includes,  classifying igneous rocks and creating a pumice eruption. The teacher's manual includes 16 lessons, quizzes and hands-on activities plus blackline masters of the student quizzes.

Earthquakes

Earthquakes occur all over the Earth and students learn the forces in nature that cause earthquakes. They learn about plate movement and how earthquakes have led to an understanding of the inside of the Earth. Students learn about the San Andreas Fault and different types of earthquake scales. The hands-on activities include making fault blocks out of Styrofoam, creating miniature tsunami waves and plotting recorded earthquakes.

The Earth Science unit is designed to be an overview. The unit includes lessons on the rock cycle, volcanoes, earthquakes, oceans, ocean life, storms and the atmosphere. Students learn about plate tectonics, how and where volcanoes form, relationship of earthquakes to plate movement, Earth's atmosphere and how to identify rocks. Hands-on activities include working with rocks in the kit, creating a crystal mobile, and modeling seafloor spreading.
