The book is meant to be taken on field trips so students can collect and identify rocks based on the characteristics they have learned in their studies of kits 1 - 4. The charts use basic characteristics to identify rocks and minerals. The DVD has video lessons on how to use the textbook when identifying rocks. The kit includes Mohs Hardness Scale Minerals (1-9), keychain microscope and streak plate.
