The Rock Cycle unit can be used to introduce students to the rock cycle or as a review at the end a year of study. Students learn about the three major groups of rocks in this unit. When they have completed the unit they will be able to tell if a rocks formed during volcanic activity, in sedimentary beds or during plate movement. Included in each kit and combo is a set of 12 rocks that include 4 samples each of igneous, sedimentary and metamorphic rocks. Students use these rocks during their hands-on activities to discover how to tell different groups of rocks apart and to understand how they formed.
